Maa! I Love you ….
SHE is made of stronger stuff when it comes to life, and sterner stuff when it comes to her off-springs.
SHE is the most influential figure in your life.
HER elegance beggars description.
SHE is none other than a “MOM”.
Thank you! Anna Jarvis, for commemorating your mother’s day back in the blurry days of 1908. This is 2013, and we still carry the candle of love in our hearts for mothers all over the world lit by you back then.
YOU! Yes I am talking to you!
Did you know where you’ve come from?
Long back, when the lady you call your mom was a beautiful bride, YOU were a twinkle in her eye.
Then you inflated in her belly and became a kicking cucumber, still she loves you. You are the one thing that gave her the most pain, when you landed on this planet. But she claims you to be her best asset.
You were a head-banging nutty nut kiddo, for the next four years .An international symbol of clumsiness. But she dealt with it anyway, played with you and taught you how to score the only A’s you get in your life.
For the next four years, you had all the stupid questions of the world to ask .She answered each one of them, with a smile and patience par-excellence. When you broke a tumbler and impishly smiled through your missing incisors, she curled up a smile picked you up in her arms and sang a lullaby.
Now you were a teen, Makeup’s, breakups, first kiss or the prom night, everything was discussed, dealt and joked but never ever hushed –up. You wanted a bike, she emptied her savings. Don’t forget the head massage and the late night coffees will always be the memories cherished by the heart.
When you dozed off on the couch, she’d dim the lights, tuck you under the covers and hushed up your chatty brother.
Then came the college life, phone bill’s shot up, mom’s temper followed the same trajectory.
The late-night tip-toeing into the house and then blurting absurd excuses to which she’d reply with an ice-cold , no non-sense expression ,“ Now this is interesting ,and probably a lie”. Your transformation credits, from a gauche, slightly over-weight, bad dresser to fit, classy, elegant lady today, goes to her.
You moved to another city, she understood. When you said goodbye, did you forget her motor- mouthing sessions “Did you keep the laddoos? …. And what about the mathrees? “Then you just hugged her tight and said, ‘I’ll be back soon ‘, which made just a single tear trickle down her eye. You were too busy to call her every day, she didn’t mind.
When she cried, she cried alone. When you cried, she cried with you. When you said, ‘Ma, this is important’. She prayed for you. Even when you yelled, ’leave me alone’. She was there for you.
Being tough and gentle at the same time .Thawing every tension with just a single touch .When I look at her today, I know I would never know a more beautiful woman.
This is to the mothers all over the world, to the lady in the pink, and to the lady in the blue.
If you are a mother, we salute you!
This mother’s day do not forget to say, ‘Maa,I Love You! ‘ . Because even she needs to be pampered sometimes.
